New In Linux AI Policy
New In Linux does not use LLMs or any other so-called "AI" products. This is true of the writing process and any other step in the development of the publication, including graphic art and scripting.
Why not? The supposed gains LLMs offer in productivity do not outweigh the risks. Speed is not a virtue, but patience and prudence is.
Going beyond the publication itself, NIL also makes an effort to avoid promoting software that has been programmed mostly or exclusively by an LLM, otherwise known as "slopware" or "vibe-coded software." Indeed, avoiding it is increasingly difficult to do. Vibe-coded apps have yet to be proven as reliable long-term solutions, however, so recommending such projects to the general public would be irresponsible.
